2007 Veterans Vigil Committee
Robyn Hollis

I have served on the committee since 2003. I am the student chairperson for the Veterans Vigil Committee. I wanted to honor and serve our military personnel. My Great Grandfather (Robert Fussell) was in the Merchant Marines. Grandfather (Wayford Hollis) – Navy during the Korean War. Cousin (Jonathan Hebert) – National Guard during War on Terrorism.

I serve as the chairperson for the Veterans Vigil Committee. I have served proudly in this capacity since 2000. My family boosts of their service in the military. Both my mother (1955-1957) and father (1950-1957) were in the United States Army. They met in the Army and later married. My dad was injured during service and return to the states as a disabled veteran (DAV). I had two uncles that served in the Merchant Marines.

I have served on the committee since 1992. My father, Bill Rogers was in the United States Army. Rogers was a POW/MIA in WWII. He was killed on a Japanese Hellship. My husband, Dr. Wendell Bryant, served in the United States Army for three years.
Mark Cline
This is my third year to serve on the Veterans Vigil Committee. I wanted to assist in any way possible, as I feel it is a worthwhile event to honor all of our veterans. I have 20 years of active duty service in the United States Air Force.
Dr. Jim Conrad
I am the University Archivist in the James G. Gee Library and have served on the committee since 1995. I assist with the historical exhibits in the MSC and coordinate with the Native American Association laying of the wreath at the flame.
Doug Hackett
Retired from the United States Navy and a member of the committee for six years. I provide coordination of the swearing in of the new recruits at the closing ceremony. And I act as the vigil face for both L-3 Communications and the Naval Recruiting District Dallas.

I have been involved on this committee since 1992. I am the writer for news release from this committee. I became involved due to my duties in Media Relations at the University. I enjoy helping publicize Veterans Vigil events for the University each year and learning about contributions made by veterans.

This is my first year to serve on the Veteran's Vigil Committee as co-chair. I am a Viet Nam Era Veteran of eight years, serving in the United States Air Force in Europe and the U.S. Upon discharge, I returned to my chosen profession of Social Work and Education which I am completing my 30th year of service. I am proud to be able to assist in honoring all levels of veterans and spouses who have so diligently served this country.

I served in the US Navy from July 1963 until March 1967. I have been a member of The American Legion for 19 years and am the current Commander of the Bruce B. Williams American Legion Post #1, Commerce, TX. This is my first year on the Veterans Vigil Committee and I feel honored to serve.

I have served on the committee since 1992. I have actively served on the Veterans Vigil Committee to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect our country.
My Father served during the Korean War.

I am honored to serve on the Veterans Vigil Committee. It shows the pride for my country and in a small way I can give back to those men and women that served in the military. I come from a military background. My Father was in the United States Air Force. Father in Law served in the Navy. Numerous cousins served military time for their country. This is my tenth year to serve on the committee.
